The judges comment made me feel like my art had accomplished what i wanted it to!
Art Show celebrates 48 years
– When judge Steven Cushner, who has taught painting for 25 years at the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., took a look at the Bath County Art Show, he was impressed enough to work quickly and decisively.
It took Cushner just under five hours – a record – to judge more than 700 works in oil, acrylic, watercolor, charcoal, pastels, sculpture, photography, graphics and mixed media.
When he was finished, artist Carrington Brown’s “The Baths” took top honors.
Brown, who lives in Manakin Sabot and is the sister of Dabney Pasco Sr. of Hot Springs, presented an oil that caused Cushner to comment, “Good art needs to draw you in completely. I think I know how I would feel if I were really there (at the Warm Springs baths).”
